He was the coach of the Little League team, the Warriors, for 7 years, helping to lead them to two Little League Championships. Covell was a past president of the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce, in the 1970’s. Lastly, he enjoyed ten years with Flagship Travel Agency of Marblehead as a courier. After ten years, he then worked as one of the first salesman for Cap Cod Chips on the North Shore. After retiring from this field, he became a successful small businessman who owned and operated with his wife, on Lyndsey Street in Marblehead, Bix Furniture Stripping and Refinishing. where he became the first General Manager of Glover Landing.

Covell and his family moved to Marblehead, Mass. Later, he was the General Manager of the Sales for the Sheraton-Hilton Hotel in New York City. Covell was the General Manager of the Madison Hotel, the Vendome Hotel, and Tremont on the Common Apartments in Boston, Mass. He then embarked on a 30 year career in the hotel/motel, apartment/condominium management field. Covell was the General Sales Manager of the Greyhound Tour Company for the entire east coast.
